PSA 2014 Fall In-Town Programs

Fall 2015 In-Town Programs

PSA continues to offer new and improved Fall In-Town Programs for our players. We believe that our child players deserve a fun/safe learning environment and we use small sided play (3 v 3 and 4 v 4) to generate maximum touches on the ball. We separate our player/children by age/grade level to the greatest extent practicable. The 2015 New Jersey Youth Soccer ages/birthday ranges are listed below:

  • U4 - 1 August 2011 to 31 July 2012
  • U5 - 1 August 2010 to 31 July 2011
  • U6 - 1 August 2009 to 31 July 2010
  • U7 - 1 August 2008 to 31 July 2009
  • U8 - 1 August 2007 to 31 July 2008
  • Older and younger children accepted on a case-by-case basis

If your child has an August or September birthday, there is a possibility that he or she would be in elementary school with children in the next higher age division (e.g., a U7 child with an August 2008 birthday may be attending 2nd grade with the majority of the U8 children). At the parents request we will place the children with their schoolmates, rather than with their age level. Please let PSA know if you want to do this with your child, and you can contact Mr. John Fellinger at or by cell (856) 628-7515 if you have any questions.

U6/U5/U4 Dinomites - Parent and Me

PSA will continue to use the Xara Soccer Dinomites for U6/U5/U4. Dinomites is an age specific program with a step-by-step interactive development guide for children. All of the learning points are integrated into games, stories and play; this allows the children to learn in their natural environment while having fun. The leader (coach) is a story-teller, with the soccer skill points integrated into the stories. In addition to the leader, each child needs to have a parent or older friend/family member participating in the fun. There are distinct programs for U6 and U5/U4.

PSA will provide a player kit as part of registration costs. The kit includes a Dinomites soccer ball, shin guards, knee socks, and PSA Soccer T-Shirt with your child’s chosen jersey number. A Backyard Activity Booklet that is based upon the adventures of Dino and Deena for home fun is also included at no extra cost.

The U6/U5/U4 program is Saturdays only, and will be held from 9AM to 10AM and/or 10AM to 11AM (depending on ages/numbers). Our 1st session starts on September 12th and finishes on 14th of November.

U8/U7 Imagineers

The Imagineers program stimulates the imagination of the children, which is a critical stage of development for 6 and 7 year olds, while introducing the children to dribbling, passing, fakes, and turning skills in a fun environment. Parents (or older friend/family member) are encouraged and provided opportunities to participate with your U8/U7 player. The children simply have more fun when Mom and Dad participate too. This gives all of our children/players the same baseline education in soccer skills and develops our volunteer coaches/parents as they participate in the latest skills, drills, and techniques.

Each player will receive an Imagineers Soccer Ball and PSA Soccer T-Shirt with your child’s chosen jersey number, included in registration. The U8/U7s will be divided into separate age appropriate teams and will practice 1 night per week with their coach. U8/U7 Matches (3 v 3 or 4 v 4) will be held on Friday nights (U7 @ 6PM and U8 @ 7PM), starting on September 11th, and will finish on the 13th of November.

U10/U9 Local Travel (Aces)

Local Travel (Aces) is geared toward children (and parents) not ready for full travel. The children will practice 1 or 2 nights per week to refine the children’s dribbling, passing, fakes, and turning skills in a fun environment. Local Travel traditionally will have matches on Saturdays. Match times usually 1 PM. PSA will provide a uniform jersey (which needs to be returned to PSA at the seasons end) and players are responsible for their own black shorts, socks, and shin-guards.

PSA needs coach/volunteers for all age groups. No soccer experience is necessary. PSA will provide the U10/U9/U8/U7/U6/U5/U4 coaches with the Aces, Imagineers, or Dinomite practice plans that are self-guiding, containing illustrations and photographs detailing the individual skills being taught. Links to web pages demonstrating each skill are also available. At these ages the coach just needs to have a willingness to assist the children, tie the occasional shoelace, and always encourage them to have fun. Please contact Mr. John Fellinger at or by cell (856) 628-7515 if you are interested and/or have questions.
